An original one sheet movie poster from the Francis Ford Coppola 1981 release of Abel Gance's epic silent historical drama of 1927, "Napoleon".

Abel Gance's original movie was a ground-breaking piece of film-making. It pioneered close-ups, point of view shots, multi-camera setups, location shooting, split screen and even included some colour sequences! 

As a boy, British film historian Kevin Brownlow discovered a couple of reels of the film at a street market, sparking a life-long fascination with the director and his film. He undertook a twenty year restoration of the film, resulting in a triumphant 1979 showing that Abel Gance was able to attend.

In 1981, Francis Form Coppola introduced the film to U.S. audiences, with a new score by his father Carmine Coppola. Gance would die in November of the same year, having seen his masterpiece re-appreciated by a modern audience.

This fantastic movie poster was produced for the 1981 U.S. release. The incredible artwork of the French general and statesman is by Alan Talm. It is in super condition and as our photos show, will look amazing framed and on the wall of any student of history or movie buff.
