Original cinema posters from the mid-twentieth century capture the graphic design language of their era and were produced for theatrical display. These pieces were printed for use in cinemas rather than for retail sale, giving them a direct connection to the film’s original release. Presented here in the classic 27 × 41 inch US One Sheet format, the traditional poster size used in American cinemas for much of the twentieth century. This iconic format remains one of the most widely collected cinema poster sizes.
This example has been linen-backed, a long-established conservation process used to stabilise and support vintage posters. Linen backing helps flatten the poster, reinforce areas of weakness and improve handling while preserving the original artwork.
