What an incredible Bond poster this is!

An absolutely stunning and guaranteed original one sheet 'Style B' movie poster for Peter R. Hunt's 1969 secret agent adventure "On Her Majesty's Secret Service", based on the 1963 Ian Fleming novel of the same name.

Following Connery's decision to step down as 007, relative newcomer George Lazenby was cast in the sixth film of the series, opposite Telly Salavas as SPECTRE's leader 'Blofeld' and with Diana Rigg as 'Countess Tracy di Vicenzo'.

Despite the offer of a seven film contract, it would be Lazenby's only outing as Bond. (He was allegedly convinced by his agent that the gentleman spy would be passe in the 1970s.)

This absolutely amazing movie poster has stunning illustrations by legendary movie poster artists Frank McCarthy and Robert McGinnis. It was produced for the original 1969 release of the movie and would have been used in a U.S. movie theater.

It was originally issued folded (as was common practice at the time), but has just been linen-backed by our paper conservators. As our photos show, they have done an astonishing job and it now displays amazingly well. We adore it!

Note: This movie poster is priced unframed. Photos showing framed and 'in room' images are for illustration only. Please check our hi-res images and the sizing information shown above.

About

About this poster

1920s–1960s 27 × 41 One Sheet Linen-backed

Original cinema posters from the mid-twentieth century capture the graphic design language of their era and were produced for theatrical display. These pieces were printed for use in cinemas rather than for retail sale, giving them a direct connection to the film’s original release. Presented here in the classic 27 × 41 inch US One Sheet format, the traditional poster size used in American cinemas for much of the twentieth century. This iconic format remains one of the most widely collected cinema poster sizes.

This example has been linen-backed, a long-established conservation process used to stabilise and support vintage posters. Linen backing helps flatten the poster, reinforce areas of weakness and improve handling while preserving the original artwork.

Original Poster Buying Guide

Authenticity & Original Posters

Art of the Movies specialises exclusively in authentic original cinema posters issued for theatrical release. These are not modern reproductions or decorative reprints.

Original posters were produced in limited numbers for cinemas to promote films during their initial release. As a result, surviving examples have become highly collectible artefacts of film history.

Each poster offered on this site is an authentic vintage piece created for cinema exhibition and carefully selected for collectors and film enthusiasts.

Condition & Age

Vintage cinema posters were working promotional materials used by theatres and distributors. As such, signs of age and handling are normal and form part of their character.

Condition is carefully assessed for each poster and reflected in the description. Where relevant, notes may include details such as light handling wear, fold lines from original cinema distribution, or minor edge wear.

Any significant restoration or conservation work will always be clearly stated.

Poster Formats & Dimensions

Original cinema posters were produced in a variety of standard formats depending on the country and era of release.

Common formats include UK Quad, US One Sheet and other theatrical display sizes. Exact dimensions for each poster are provided in the product details where relevant.

These historic formats are part of the distinctive character of original film advertising.

Framing Options

Many posters can be supplied professionally framed as an optional extra.

Framing is carried out using archival-quality materials designed to protect and display vintage paper safely. Frames are prepared to complement the artwork while maintaining a clean, gallery-style presentation.

Where framing is available, it can be selected before purchase.

Packaging & Delivery

Posters are carefully packaged to ensure safe delivery.

Unframed posters are typically shipped rolled safely packaged within our extra-thick custom-made tubes. Framed pieces are securely boxed using protective materials to minimise movement during transit.

Orders are dispatched with tracking where available.
