What a movie poster!

A guaranteed original one sheet movie poster from 1974 for Roman Polanski's classic neo noir crime mystery "Chinatown", starring Jack Nicholson, Faye Dunaway, John Hillerman, Perry Lopez, Burt Young, John Huston and Bruce Glover.

Nominated for eleven Academy Awards, Chinatown is one of the landmark films of neo noir and is loosely based on the Californian Water Wars of the early twentieth century.

Private Investigator Jakes Gittes (Nicholson) is hired to tail the chief engineer at the Department of Water and Power. Is the person who hired him really the engineer's wife, or, are there darker forces at play?

This is a classic movie poster! A few artists are often mistakenly credited with the artwork. The correct artist is Jim 'Jimbo' Pearsall. Pearsall graduated from the Pratt School of Art and Design in New York. While working at the Diener Hauser Bates Advertising Agency, he created this iconic movie poster. He didn't do many movie posters, but what he did do was incredible!

Originally issued folded (as was common place in the '70's), it has been linen-backed and as our photos show, will look incredible framed and on display. We love it!

By the way, when Nicholson slaps Dunaway, it was an actual slap - at Dunaway's insistence!
