Tenet - The First Corona Era Block Buster
At the beginning of the year as we published our 'Look Ahead At The 2020 Blockbusters', who could have predicted that cinemas would be closed for five months and many of those movies would have their release date pushed back, even cancelled?
Eight months later and cinemas have put in place their COVID-19 safety measures and are throwing open their doors to the public.
It probably needs an epic from a major director to encourage us to don a mask, leave the comfort of our home and settle in to the plush chairs before the big screen.
Who better than Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight, Interstellar, Dunkirk, Inception) to tempt us?
With palindromic TENET Nolan continues his cinematic exploration of the beauty of numbers and natural science, this time in the form of symmetry.
Russian oligarch Andrei Stor (Kenneth Branagh) has access to a weapon that will destroy the planet and he's not afraid to use it. One organisation stands in his way - TENET.
John David Washington stars as 'The Protagonist', with Robert Pattinson (soon to be Batman) as his handler, in a mind-bending, time reversing adventure.
Can the Protagonist stop Stor and save the planet?
Nolan's films have always been major spectacles best enjoyed on the big silver screen. Filmed across seven countries and with the cinematography of Hoyte van Hoytema (who also worked with Nolan on Interstellar and Dunkirk), TENET promises to be no different.
Will 'The Protagonist' save cinemas and movie-theatres world-wide? We will see.
Tenet is released today, 26th August 2020. If you are donning your mask over the next few days, be safe and enjoy the movie.
Even if you aren't, we have tracked down a few of the amazing movie posters to enjoy in your own home. Each has its own take on Nolan's symmetry.
