A guaranteed original English movie poster from 1986 for Tony Scott's naval aviation all-action movie "Top Gun", starring the one and only Tom Cruise.
In May 1983, California magazine published an article Top Guns, written by Ehud Yonay. Within it Yonay told of the dare-devil pilots of F-14 Tomcat planes. This article served as the inspiration for one of the most iconic films of the 1980's.
Alongside Cruise ('LT Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell') the movie stars Kelly McGillis, Val Kilmer, Anthony Edwards and Meg Ryan. The highest grossing film of 1986 finally got its (very worthy) sequel when Top Gun: Maverick hit the big screen in 2022!
Original movie posters for this film are so hard to track down! This superb example is an unusual smaller size. It carries text confirming that is was designed by famed U.K. advertising company, FEREF and their FEREF Unseen book confirms that it was designed by Robin Behling, who would go on to become the company's Managing Director and Chairman.
It has never been folded and as our photos show, will look fantastic framed and on display!
By the way, Kelly McGillis' character ('Charlie Blackwood') was based on the real-life Christine Fox who was a civilian employee at the Naval Air Station Miramar. She would go on to become the highest ranked female in the history of the US Department of Defense!
We only sell guaranteed original movie posters. We do not sell reproductions.
Note: This poster is priced unframed. Photos showing framed and 'in room' images are for illustration only. Please check our hi-res images and the sizing information shown above.
