A guaranteed original one sheet movie poster from 2009 for Kenny Ortega's concert documentary "This Is It", starring Michael Jackson.
On 5th March 2009, Michael Jackson announced a series of concerts at London's O2 arena. Originally ten were planned, but due to demand, a further forty dates were added, taking the residency to nearly eight months!
They have been called "... the greatest concerts that never happened."
Michael Jackson passed away on 25th June 2009. Prior to his death, Jackson had been meticulously preparing for the show, with Ortega acting as the show's choreographer. Footage was being shot to help the show's production. It was never intended to be shown publicly and would have entered Jackson's private archive once the show was complete.
Ortega states that the idea for the film came about from the number of fan requests. The movie opens by stating that it is "For the Fans..."
Film Critic Roger Ebert stated that the film surprised him, showing Jackson as "... a spirit embodied by music..." and that his rehearsal performances were "... something else."
It is the highest-grossing concert documentary film of all time.
