A guaranteed original one sheet movie poster from the 2023 50th Anniversary release of Robin Hardy's pagan horror movie "The Wicker Man", based on the 1967 novel "Ritual" by David Pinner.
Originally released in 1973, this cult classic stars Edward Woodward as Sergeant Neil Howie, flown to a remote Scottish island to investigate the disappearance of a young girl. Are the islanders, led by Lord Summerisle (Christopher Lee), responsible for her death and is it related to their strange pagan beliefs?
A perfect example of 'folk horror', it is the grandfather of recent hit films such as Midsommar. (Apparently Christopher Lee considered it the best of his well over two hundred films.)
This fantastic movie poster, with incredible artwork by Richey Beckett, was produced for the 2023 50th anniversary release of the film. Produced in very small numbers, it is printed on speckled paper and you can feel the ink on the paper. Given the small number in the print run, perhaps it was screen printed by hand. A really beautiful poster for this iconic British horror film.
