A guaranteed original 8x10 lobby card / front of house card from 1980 for Stanley Kubrick's horror masterpiece "The Shining", based on Stephen King's 1977 novel.
Kubrick's direction produced outstanding performances by Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall as the parents of a psychic son who taps in to the evil past of a hotel. The film is now considered one of the greatest horror films ever produced.
With the November 2019 release of a sequel Doctor Sleep, and with the tidal wave of blood or creepy twins frequently cropping up in films or TV serials, this astonishing film continues to be introduced to a new generation of fans.
This wonderful lobby card is known as a 'title card', It shows the same design as the movie poster, as iconic as the film itself, with a deceptively simple design by the legendary Saul Bass. The 2019 Kubrick exhibition at the London Design Museum gave great insight in to Kubrick's own contribution to the poster design - perhaps far greater than we would have imagined.
It is in fantastic condition and has been framed by us in a black ayous wood frame with an iced white mount, protective barrier board and crystal clear acrylic glazing. As our photos show, it will look amazing on display!
