A guaranteed original one sheet movie poster from 2021 for Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson's superb festival documentary "Summer of Soul (... Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised)".
A festival over six Sundays with superstars such as Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, The 5th Dimension, Gladys Knight & the Pips, Mavis Staples, Blinky Williams and Sly and the Family Stone, would be well known, wouldn't it? Well, perhaps not.
The 1969 Harlem Festival took place at New York's Mount Morris Park between June and August. The far better known Woodstock Festival, took place the same Summer.
This incredible documentary uses restored festival footage, news footage and modern day interviews to explore the impact of the festival and the reasons behind its current obscurity.
Premiering at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival, it would win the Grand Jury Prize before a limited theatrical run. It has since gone to win the BAFTA and Oscar Best Documentary awards. The Guardian gave it five stars, with the reviewer stating that "... while watching it, I actually forgot to breathe..."
This is a film to watch.
This wonderful movie poster, packed with late sixties soul stars (Nina Simone and Sly Stone centre) has never been folded and as our photos show, is in fantastic condition. Being double-sided, is suitable for display in an Art of the Movies Light Box or traditional framing.
By the way, director Questlove is the drummer and co-front man of The Roots, the in-house band for NBC's The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon!
We only sell guaranteed original movie posters. We do not sell reproductions.
Note: This poster is priced unframed. Photos showing framed and 'in room' images are for illustration only. Please check our hi-res images and the sizing information shown above.
