This is a rare one!

A guaranteed original one sheet 'twin towers' teaser movie poster from 2002 for Sam Raimi's super hero adventure "Spider-Man", based on the Marvel comics created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.

The first film of a trilogy starring Tobey Maguire (as 'Peter Parker' / 'Spiderman') and Kirsten Dunst (as 'Mary Jane Watson'), for this movie they were joined by the superb Willem Dafoe (as 'Norman Osborn' / 'The Green Goblin').

A Spider-Man film had been in the works for about 25 years before Columbia Pictures managed to pull it off. An amazing success, it was the first film to take $100M in its opening weekend, before taking over $800M world-wide. It helped define the super-hero films that we now take for granted.

This incredible superb single-sided movie poster has become one of the most striking examples of how world events can abruptly reshape film marketing. In early 2001, Sony released teaser posters for Spider-Man featuring the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center visible in Spider-Man’s eye lenses. After the September 11 attacks, Sony immediately withdrew the poster and related promotional materials. The studio also edited the film itself, removing shots that included the Twin Towers and shelving a trailer that showed Spider-Man trapping a helicopter between the two buildings. Out of sensitivity and respect, the imagery was never reused in official promotion.

There are lots of fakes of this poster about. (Far more fakes than originals.) But, there are a few tell-tale signs of the forgeries, one of which is the cropping of the taxi in the far left of the image. We guarantee that this poster is original.

As our photos show, it has never been folded and is in fantastic condition.

By the way, it was fantastic to see Toby Maguire's Spider-Man reappear in Marvel's latest Spidey adventure, Spider-Man: No Way Home!
