A guaranteed original U.K. quad movie poster for John Badham's 1977 disco romance "Saturday Night Fever" starring John Travolta and Karen Lynn Gorney.
This iconic image captures Travolta as 'Tony Manero', budding king of the multi-colour dance floor in New York's disco scene. A role that would land him his first Best Actor Oscar nomination.
Whilst a huge commercial success on its release (an amazing box office of $237M against a production budget of only $3M), the film has perhaps lain under-appreciated for a number of years. Whilst it is a fantastic period piece on the New York disco subculture, it is also a far deeper film and the performances (particularly Travolta's) are superb.
Oh - and of course the soundtrack is amazing too! (Admit in, you can hear the Bee Gees in your head!)
This superb British movie poster was originally issued folded, but has been linen-backed by our paper conservators and they have done a marvellous job. It really does look fantastic!
You can see from the poster that the film had an 'X' rating on its initial release in the U.K. (which happened in March 1978). Following the success of Grease (which was classified an 'A' - the equivalent of today's 'PG'), over six minutes was cut from the film and an 'A' rating awarded. By March 1979, the edited film was the only version playing in U.K. cinemas. So, we can be certain that this poster is from 1978 release.
A really wonderful poster for the lord of the dance (or dad dance) in your life!
Note: This movie poster is priced unframed. Photos showing framed and 'in room' images are for illustration only. Please check our hi-res images and the sizing information shown above.
