Alongside Egerton is Jamie Bell as Elton's writing partner Bernie Taupin and Bryce Dallas Howard as his mother. Egerton's performance was singled out for praise, winning him awards around the world for his flamboyant yet touching performance.

Elton and Bernie would also win a 'Best Original Song' Oscar for "(I'm Gonna) Love Me Again".
