A guaranteed original U.S. one sheet movie poster from 1988 for Barry Levinson's superb road comedy-drama "Rain Man", based on a story by Barry Morrow.
This wonderful movie was inspired by Laurence Kim Peek. Peek had a phenomenal memory but also experienced social difficulties. Both were most probably connected with a congenital brain abnormality. He apparently read books in about an hour by scanning the left page with left eye and right page with his right. He could accurately recall the contents of over 12,000 books.
Morrow wrote the character of Raymond Babbitt (Dustin Hoffman) after meeting with Peek. Tom Cruise would play his brother 'Charlie' in a very under-rated performance.
The resultant film, which did much to increase awareness of autism and related conditions, was nominated for eight Academy Awards, winning Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best Actor (for Hoffman).
This single-sided poster is (unusually for the time) unfolded. As you can see in our high-resolution photos, it is in super condition and displays very well.
We only sell guaranteed original movie posters. We do not sell reproductions.
Note: This poster is priced unframed. Photos showing framed and 'in room' images are for illustration only. Please check our hi-res images and the sizing information shown above.
