A guaranteed original Australian one sheet movie poster from the 1982 release of Hamilton Luske and Ben Sharpsteen's 1940 Disney fairy tale "Pinocchio", based on the 1883 children's book "The Adventures of Pinocchio" by Italian author and journalist Carlo Collodi.

The second of Disney's animated movies, it became the first animated feature film to win a competitive Oscar - actually winning two - for Best Music (Original Score) and Best Music (Original Song) for When You Wish Upon A Star.

However, due in part to World War II, the movie was initially a box office disaster. The post war release (1945) was however a great success and this beautiful film is now recognised as an animation classic, with a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

This fantastic poster was produced for the 1982 release of the film in Australia. It was originally issued folded but has been professionally linen backed (a conservation process that protects the poster and greatly reduces the visibility of fold-lines). Do take a look at our photos to see how good it looks. A superb piece of classic Disney movie history.

We only sell guaranteed original movie posters. We do not sell reproductions.

Note: This poster is priced unframed. Photos showing framed and 'in room' images are for illustration only. Please check our hi-res images and the sizing information shown above.

About

About this poster

1920s–1960s 27 × 40 One Sheet Linen-backed

Original cinema posters from the mid-twentieth century capture the graphic design language of their era and were produced for theatrical display. These pieces were printed for use in cinemas rather than for retail sale, giving them a direct connection to the film’s original release. Presented here in the 27 × 40 inch US One Sheet format, the standard poster size used in American cinemas from the 1980s onward. This format offers strong wall presence and displays particularly well framed.

This example has been linen-backed, a long-established conservation process used to stabilise and support vintage posters. Linen backing helps flatten the poster, reinforce areas of weakness and improve handling while preserving the original artwork.

Original Poster Buying Guide

Authenticity & Original Posters

Art of the Movies specialises exclusively in authentic original cinema posters issued for theatrical release. These are not modern reproductions or decorative reprints.

Original posters were produced in limited numbers for cinemas to promote films during their initial release. As a result, surviving examples have become highly collectible artefacts of film history.

Each poster offered on this site is an authentic vintage piece created for cinema exhibition and carefully selected for collectors and film enthusiasts.

Condition & Age

Vintage cinema posters were working promotional materials used by theatres and distributors. As such, signs of age and handling are normal and form part of their character.

Condition is carefully assessed for each poster and reflected in the description. Where relevant, notes may include details such as light handling wear, fold lines from original cinema distribution, or minor edge wear.

Any significant restoration or conservation work will always be clearly stated.

Poster Formats & Dimensions

Original cinema posters were produced in a variety of standard formats depending on the country and era of release.

Common formats include UK Quad, US One Sheet and other theatrical display sizes. Exact dimensions for each poster are provided in the product details where relevant.

These historic formats are part of the distinctive character of original film advertising.

Framing Options

Many posters can be supplied professionally framed as an optional extra.

Framing is carried out using archival-quality materials designed to protect and display vintage paper safely. Frames are prepared to complement the artwork while maintaining a clean, gallery-style presentation.

Where framing is available, it can be selected before purchase.

Packaging & Delivery

Posters are carefully packaged to ensure safe delivery.

Unframed posters are typically shipped rolled safely packaged within our extra-thick custom-made tubes. Framed pieces are securely boxed using protective materials to minimise movement during transit.

Orders are dispatched with tracking where available.
