An unusual find! An original German 'A1' movie poster from the 2011 release of Fritz Lang's seminal anti-fascist silent sci-fi movie "Metropolis", written by novelist and screenwriter Thea von Harbou and first released in 1927.
Ground-breaking at the time, Lang's thirteenth movie is still influencing movie-makers in the 20th and 21st centuries. C-3PO's design owes quite a bit to Lang's 'Maschinenmensch' ('machine person').
The movie poster for the original 1927 release was by German illustrator and graphic designer Heinz Shulz-Neudamm. Only a few examples are known to still exist. Two currently sit at number 3 and number 1 in the list of most expensive movie posters. The most expensive sold for $690,000 in 2005. It is rumoured that Leonardo DiCaprio was the buyer.
This fantastic poster was produced for the 2011 German re-release of the movie. It is in superb condition and as our photos show, will look amazing framed and on the wall of any sci-fi fan or movie buff.
We only sell guaranteed original movie posters. We do not sell reproductions.
Note: This poster is priced unframed. Photos showing framed and 'in room' images are for illustration only. Please check our hi-res images and the sizing information shown above.
