A stunning and guaranteed original U.S. 'one sheet' poster from 1962 for "Lolita", directed by Stanley Kubrick, based on the novel by Vladimir Nabokov.
Both "Lolita" the novel and "Lolita" the film were the source of some controversy on their release. The novel is now lauded as a masterpiece of twentieth century fiction. Similarly, the film is now recognised as a "black comedy" cinematic master-piece.
Starring James Mason, Shelley Winters, Sue Lyon and Peter Sellers, the film was principally filmed in the U.K., in and around Elstree Studios (rather than the U.S., where the story is based). It won an Oscar for best adapted screen play and a Golden Globe for Sue Lyon's breakthrough performance.
This poster has been beautifully linen-backed (see our FAQs), with the original fold lines barely visible. It really does display beautifully.
The photographer for the poster was Kubrick's friend Bert Stern who also famously photographed Marilyn Monroe. He perfectly captured Delores / Lolita, with his shot of Sue Lyon’s eyes peering over heart-shaped glasses as she sucks on a lollipop.
