A stunning and guaranteed original U.S. '30x40' movie poster for Robert Clouse's Hong Kong martial arts thriller "Game of Death",  starring Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, Mel Novak and Kareem Abdul-Jabar.

Development of The Game of Death, began in 1972. Multi-talented Bruce Lee wrote, produced and was to star in a movie where our hero must save his brother and sister from a group of crack martial arts specialists.

During filming, Lee received an offer to star in Hollywood funded Enter the Dragon. With a budget he could only dream of, he paused production of The Game of Death. Lee would die in July 1973, before he had chance to return and complete his own film.

Following his death, Enter The Dragon director Clouse was invited to complete the film. It would be released in Hong Kong in 1978, five years after the star's passing. (The U.S. release was in 1979.)

This incredible movie poster, with artwork by Bob Gleason, is a wonderful example of the rarer U.S. 30x40 format. These posters were produced on a thicker card-like paper stock for use at drive-ins and outside U.S. movie theaters. We find that the thicker paper provides a wonderful surface for the ink, giving greater colour depth and definition to the images.

It has never been folded and with only mild staining in the bottom left corner, will look incredible framed and on display. We love it!

We only sell guaranteed original posters. We do not sell reproductions.

Note: This movie poster is priced unframed. Photos showing framed and 'in room' images are for illustration only. Please check our hi-res images and the sizing information shown above..)

Original Poster Buying Guide

Authenticity & Original Posters

Art of the Movies specialises exclusively in authentic original cinema posters issued for theatrical release. These are not modern reproductions or decorative reprints.

Original posters were produced in limited numbers for cinemas to promote films during their initial release. As a result, surviving examples have become highly collectible artefacts of film history.

Each poster offered on this site is an authentic vintage piece created for cinema exhibition and carefully selected for collectors and film enthusiasts.

Condition & Age

Vintage cinema posters were working promotional materials used by theatres and distributors. As such, signs of age and handling are normal and form part of their character.

Condition is carefully assessed for each poster and reflected in the description. Where relevant, notes may include details such as light handling wear, fold lines from original cinema distribution, or minor edge wear.

Any significant restoration or conservation work will always be clearly stated.

Poster Formats & Dimensions

Original cinema posters were produced in a variety of standard formats depending on the country and era of release.

Common formats include UK Quad, US One Sheet and other theatrical display sizes. Exact dimensions for each poster are provided in the product details where relevant.

These historic formats are part of the distinctive character of original film advertising.

Framing Options

Many posters can be supplied professionally framed as an optional extra.

Framing is carried out using archival-quality materials designed to protect and display vintage paper safely. Frames are prepared to complement the artwork while maintaining a clean, gallery-style presentation.

Where framing is available, it can be selected before purchase.

Packaging & Delivery

Posters are carefully packaged to ensure safe delivery.

Unframed posters are typically shipped rolled safely packaged within our extra-thick custom-made tubes. Framed pieces are securely boxed using protective materials to minimise movement during transit.

Orders are dispatched with tracking where available.
