A super image - a guaranteed original 11x14 lobby / front of house card for Sidney Lumet's bank heist thriller "Dog Day Afternoon", based on a 1972 bank robbery in Brooklyn, New York.
At closing time on the 22nd August 1972, three armed men held up The Chase Manhattan bank at the corner of Avenue P and East Third Street. It all seemed to be going smoothly for the robbers until the bank manager received a phone call and gave a coded message to a colleague.
The result? Over two hundred police men and FBI agents descended on the bank.
Starring Al Pacino, John Cazale, James Broderick, Charles Durning and Chris Sarandon, this fantastic film would be nominated for six Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor. It would win for Best Original Screenplay. It would also take over $50M at the box office, against its 'modest' budget of $4M.
This superb lobby card shows Al Pacino as bank robber John 'Sonny' Wojtowicz. As our photos show, it is in superb condition and will look incredible framed and on display. (We have also included a photo of the reverse of the card.)
By the way, the film was inspired by a LIFE magazine article on the robbery entitled "The Boys In The Bank". You can find copies on-line and it is well worth a read.
We only sell guaranteed original movie posters. We do not sell reproductions.
