A guaranteed original '8x10' promotional still from 1980 for Julian Goldberg's stand-up comedy special "Andy Kaufman Plays Carnegie Hall", starring the one and only, Andy Kaufman.
If you are old enough to remember the U.S. comedy show Taxi, you will recall Latka, the foreign mechanic of the Sunshine Cab Company. Kaufman adapted him from a character he used in his comedy show, and, when he grew bored of playing Latka, the writers threw in a multiple personality disorder so Andy could play other roles too!
His April 1979 Carnegie Hall show has become a night of legends. Here are just three stand out moments:
- He told the audience that his grandmother was going to watch the entire show from a chair at the side of the stage. At the end of the show, she removed her mask to reveal Robin Williams!
- He had an elderly woman pretend to have a heart attack on stage. He then performed an American Indian dance to revive her.
- After the show, he took the entire audience out for milk and cookies. It took 24 buses.
This wonderful still catches Andy Kaufman in full Elvis mode! The rear includes a snipe providing details of the TV show. We will include a copy of this for the owner's records.
It has been framed by us in a black ayous wood frame with an iced white mount, protective barrier board and crystal clear acrylic glazing. As our photos show, it will look amazing on display!
By the way, one of Andy's characters, lounge singer Tony Clifton, continued to perform, even after Kaufman's death????!
We only sell guaranteed original movie posters. We do not sell reproductions.
Note: This movie still is priced framed. Photos showing 'in room' images are for illustration only. Please check our hi-res images and the sizing information shown above.
