Re-making one of the highest grossing animated films of all time was quite a bold step, but following his successful remake of The Jungle Book, Favreau was handed the Disney crown jewel.

He didn't disappoint! The Lion King would go on to take over $1.6B at the global box office and a prequel Mufasa: The Lion King, is scheduled for release in December 2024.
