A guaranteed original U.S. one sheet movie poster from 1971 for Marvin J. Chomsky's daredevil biography "Evel Knievel", starring George Hamilton, Sue Lyon, Bert Freed, Rod Cameron and Dub 'Cannonball' Taylor.
Robert Craig Knievel was born in Montana in 1938. Raised by his grandparents, he was inspired to become a stunt performer after attending one of racing driver and stunt man Joie Chitwood's auto-shows. In a career lasting decades, he attempted more than seventy-five motorcycle jumps, including jumping the Caesar's Palace fountains and attempting to jump a canyon on a rocket bike!
I can remember inheriting an Evel Knievel toy motor-bike. You pulled it back to charge the spring and then let it go. We used books as improvised ramps and there were many skirting boards damaged by our jump attempts!
Chomsky's biopic mixes interview with the daredevil with archive footage and fictionalised events. Apparently Knievel later adopted many of the fictional lines in to his own persona!
This wonderful movie poster has fantastic artwork by Joseph Smith. It was issued folded and has a couple of pin-holes, but as our photos show, still displays really well! It will look super framed and on the wall of any motor-cycle daredevil!
By the way, apparently Evel's name came from a night spent in jail. A cell mate named William Knofel, went by the nickname “Awful Knofel”, so, Knievel became Evel Knievel!
We only sell guaranteed original movie posters. We do not sell reproductions.
Note: This lobby card is priced framed. Photos showing 'in room' images are for illustration only. Please check our hi-res images and the sizing information shown above.
