Introducing a largely unknown cast, The Florida Project follows the summertime adventures of a young girl who lives with her mother in a budget hotel in the shadow of Walt Disney World, blissfully unaware of the financial hardship that they find themselves in.

Shot on location in Florida, apparently the closing scenes were filmed without permission in Disney World's Magic Kingdom, on an Apple iPhone!

Made for a 'mere' $2M, The Florida Project would go on to take over $10M at the global box office with Willem Dafoe receiving an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Bobby Hicks, the manager of Magic Castle.

In July 2025, it was placed 63rd on Rolling Stone's list of The 100 Best Movies of the 21st Century.
