A guaranteed original U.S. 'one sheet' movie poster from 1983 for Nagisa Oshima's moving prisoner of war film "Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence", starring David Bowie.

The film is based on Sir Laurens van der Post's (godfather of Prince William) experiences as a Japanese prisoner of war during World War II, captured in two books ‘The Seed and the Sower’ (1963) and ‘The Night of the New Moon’ (1970).

Whilst Tom Conti played the eponymous 'Colonel John Lawrence', it is Bowie's performance for which the film is best known, with The New York Times calling it "mercurial and arresting". 

This single-sided poster has never been folded and displays really well!
