A guaranteed original U.S. one sheet movie poster from 1956 for Alexander Mackendrick's crime caper "The Ladykillers", starring Alec Guinness, Katie Johnson, Cecil Parker, Herbert Lom, Peter Sellers, Danny Green, Jack Warner and Frankie Howerd, with an Oscar nominated screenplay by William Rose.

Produced by the famous Ealing Studios, this superb black comedy is set in London's King Cross, where the sinister Professor Marcus (Guinness) rents a room from the unsuspecting Mrs Wilberforce and moves in his gang disguised as an amateur string quintet. Can they carry out their heist and make away with the money without Mrs Wilberforce (affectionately known as 'Mum') suspecting?

Ranked the 13th greatest British film by the BFI, it also holds a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Not bad for a 68 year old film!

This incredible movie poster was produced for the original U.S. release of the film, in February 1956. As was standard practice at the time, it was issued folded and has clearly  been much loved and displayed during its sixty odd years! At some point quite recently, it was linen backed. This process stabilises the poster and flattens the fold-lines. However, the owner decided not to restore the signs of the poster's age and to leave it as-is. The result is a poster that is clearly of-its-age but that is stabilised for the future. We love it.
