We adore this poster! A guaranteed original movie poster for the 1965 West German release of Alexander Mackendrick's crime caper "The Ladykillers", starring Alec Guinness, Katie Johnson, Cecil Parker, Herbert Lom, Peter Sellers, Danny Green, Jack Warner and Frankie Howerd, with an Oscar nominated screenplay by William Rose.

Produced by the famous Ealing Studios, this superb black comedy is set in London's King Cross, where the sinister Professor Marcus (Guinness) rents a room from the unsuspecting Mrs Wilberforce and moves in his gang disguised as an amateur string quintet. Can they carry out their heist and make away with the money without Mrs Wilberforce (affectionately known as 'Mum') suspecting?

Ranked the 13th greatest British film by the BFI, it also holds a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Not bad for a 68 year old film!

This incredible poster (the format  is known as the 'A1'), with more than a nod to Polish film posters of the era, was produced for the 1965 West German release of the movie by Atlas Film. The amazing mad-cap artwork is by designer and illustrator Heinz Edelmann (1934 - 2009). In the 1960's he produced around a dozen amazing and unique film posters for Atlas, including this and in 1968, The Beatles' Yellow Submarine.

This rare example has never been folded and as our photos show is in lovely condition. A really unique movie poster for this classic British comedy. We probably won't find another.
