Can it really be five years since Todd Phillips' phenomenal Joker hit the big screen?
Joaquin Phoenix's incredible portrayal of the birth of DC Comics' super-villain, coupled with some astonishing cinematography and a wonderful score, won plaudits world-wide and earned Warner Brothers over $1B at the box office. It remains the highest grossing 'R' rated film of all time.
It also broke the mould at the main-stream awards, with eleven Academy Award nominations. Phoenix would bag the Best Actor Oscar, together with the BAFTA and Golden Globe awards.
Even as the movie played in cinemas, media speculation of a sequel began. I for one was sceptical. It never felt like a story that needed a new ending. However, half a decade later, I quite fancy catching up with Arthur Fleck again.
So, it was with some excitement that we saw the teaser trailer for Joker: Folie à Deux drop!
The first thing to strike is the use of colour, so beautifully utilised in the 2019 film. Arthur's prison world is green, drab and grey. Lady Gaga's Harleen Quinzel radiates new light in to his world. Then there is the music. Finally, we are left with overwhelming curiosity. What is fact? What is fiction? A trick Joker played so well.
Here it is. Enjoy!
A sneak peak of the first teaser movie poster has also been shared. We should have it available in a few weeks.
No doubt there will be more trailers before the 4th October release. We cannot wait!
