At a time when movies are dominated by the back-story of super-heroes, it is exciting to hear of a film that focuses on an equally famous villain.
Originally confirmed in the Summer of 2017, "Joker" tells the story of Batman's most famous nemesis.
Played in the original 1966 TV series by Cesar Romero, the Joker has an illustrious on screen presence. In 1989 Jack Nicholson gave us a screen stealing performance against Michael Keaton's Batman. For the next twenty years, Mark Hamill lent his voice talents to a darker animated Joker, and, in 2008 Heath Ledger won a posthumous Oscar for his incredible portrayal of the psychopathic anarchist.
For 2019, Joaquin Phoenix becomes Arthur Fleck, a comedian struggling with mental health as the world that surrounds him, fails him.
The stunning teaser trailer (released yesterday) promises a film of depth that shows us how a normal man can become one of the world's greatest villains.
Set for release in October 2019, and with a superb supporting cast, D.C.'s "Joker" must be one of the hottest films of the year.
We can't wait!
