A guaranteed original '8x10' promotional movie still from 1986 for Tony Scott's naval aviation all-action movie "Top Gun", starring the one and only Tom Cruise.
In May 1983, California magazine published an article Top Guns, written by Ehud Yonay. Within it Yonay told of the dare-devil pilots of F-14 Tomcat planes. This article served as the inspiration for one of the most iconic films of the 1980's.
Alongside Cruise ('LT Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell') Top Gun stars Kelly McGillis, Val Kilmer, Anthony Edwards and Meg Ryan. The highest grossing film of 1986 finally got its (very worthy) sequel when Top Gun: Maverick hit the big screen in 2022!
Original movie posters and stills for this film are so hard to track down! We were delighted to be able to get hold of a few original pieces that would have been used for promotion during the film's release.
They come complete with Paramount Pictures' snipes, giving further information on the film. These are attached to the rear of each still and we will include a photo for the new owner's records.
This particular example, showing the late great Val Kilmer as the ultra-cool LT Tom "Iceman" Kazansky, is in fantastic condition and has been framed by us in a black ayous wood frame with an iced white mount, protective barrier board and crystal clear acrylic glazing. As our photos show, it will look amazing on display!
By the way, apparently Kilmer was initially reluctant to take a role in a 'war' film. Can you imagine anyone else as Iceman?
We only sell guaranteed original movie posters. We do not sell reproductions.
Note: This movie still is priced framed. Photos 'in room' images are for illustration only. Please check our hi-res images and the sizing information shown above.

Original Poster Buying Guide
Authenticity & Original Posters
Art of the Movies specialises exclusively in authentic original cinema posters issued for theatrical release. These are not modern reproductions or decorative reprints.
Original posters were produced in limited numbers for cinemas to promote films during their initial release. As a result, surviving examples have become highly collectible artefacts of film history.
Each poster offered on this site is an authentic vintage piece created for cinema exhibition and carefully selected for collectors and film enthusiasts.
Condition & Age
Vintage cinema posters were working promotional materials used by theatres and distributors. As such, signs of age and handling are normal and form part of their character.
Condition is carefully assessed for each poster and reflected in the description. Where relevant, notes may include details such as light handling wear, fold lines from original cinema distribution, or minor edge wear.
Any significant restoration or conservation work will always be clearly stated.
Poster Formats & Dimensions
Original cinema posters were produced in a variety of standard formats depending on the country and era of release.
Common formats include UK Quad, US One Sheet and other theatrical display sizes. Exact dimensions for each poster are provided in the product details where relevant.
These historic formats are part of the distinctive character of original film advertising.
Framing Options
Many posters can be supplied professionally framed as an optional extra.
Framing is carried out using archival-quality materials designed to protect and display vintage paper safely. Frames are prepared to complement the artwork while maintaining a clean, gallery-style presentation.
Where framing is available, it can be selected before purchase.
Packaging & Delivery
Posters are carefully packaged to ensure safe delivery.
Unframed posters are typically shipped rolled safely packaged within our extra-thick custom-made tubes. Framed pieces are securely boxed using protective materials to minimise movement during transit.
Orders are dispatched with tracking where available.
