A guaranteed original German 'A1' movie poster from 1966 for Billy Wilder's romantic comedy "The Seven Year Itch", originally released in 1955 and based on the Broadway play by George Axelrod.
Starring Marilyn Monroe and Tom Ewell (who had also starred in the stage play) this wonderful film plays on the theory that under temptation of a beautiful woman, all marriages are doomed to failure in their seventh year! It contains one of the most iconic images of cinema - Marilyn Monroe standing with her white dress billowing around her as a New York subway train passes under the grate below her.
This incredible movie poster was produced for the 1966 release of the film in Germany. The amazing artwork and design is by Dorothea Fischer-Nosbisch. Working closely with film distributor Atlas Films and her husband Fritz Fischer, Nosbich was responsible for driving innovation in German film promotion and this highly sought after poster bears testament to that. Beautiful.
