A guaranteed original 'half sheet' movie poster for Don Chaffey's 1977 animated Disney musical "Pete's Dragon", based on an unpublished story by Seton I. Miller and S.S. Field.

Originally envisaged as a two part Disney TV series, the story was eventually made for the big screen and starred Sean Marshall (as Pete), Helen Reddy, Jim Dale, Mickey Rooney, Shelley Winters and comedian Red Buttons.

Pete's Dragon was nominated for two Academy Awards, four Saturn Awards and one Golden Globe! A Disney re-make (as a drama rather than musical) was released in 2016.

This wonderful poster was produced for the initial 1977 release and is an example of the rarer U.S. 'half sheet' format. The incredible artwork is by Paul Wenzel. Wenzel worked for Disney for 42 years and worked on over 100 movie posters for the studio. As our photos show, this amazing example of his work will look incredible framed and on display!
