Collection introduction

The one sheet is one of the most recognisable movie poster formats in the world. In the U.K., many of these images became familiar not only through cinema marketing, but through the artwork used on video rental covers, film magazines, soundtrack releases and home entertainment campaigns.

This collection brings together original one sheet movie posters from across decades of cinema, including U.S. domestic posters and selected international one sheet releases. From folded 27x41 posters to later 27x40 issues, each piece is original theatrical advertising paper, not a modern reproduction.

Whether you are choosing a favourite film for your wall, finding a memorable gift or building a larger display, one sheets offer a direct connection to the artwork that helped shape how these films were seen, remembered and loved.

Collection Notes

The One Sheet and the Artwork we Remember

In the U.K., the quad was the familiar cinema poster format, but the one sheet played an important role in shaping how many films were remembered. Its artwork often travelled far beyond the cinema campaign, appearing across video rental sleeves, press advertising, soundtrack releases and later home entertainment material.

That makes one sheets especially appealing today. They often carry the image that became internationally associated with a film, while still being original theatrical movie posters in their own right. Earlier examples are commonly around 27x41 inches and usually folded; later one sheets are more often around 27x40 inches and may be rolled.

Displayed on their own or alongside U.K. quads, one sheets tell a broader story of how films were marketed, remembered and rediscovered across different eras of cinema.

Practical notes on originality, condition, sizes, framing and delivery to help you choose with confidence.

Original cinema posters

Every poster we sell is an original theatrical cinema poster, produced for cinema use rather than as a later reproduction. It is one of the most important distinctions when choosing an authentic piece of cinema artwork.

Original movie posters vs reproductions

An original movie poster was produced as part of a film’s theatrical advertising campaign. It is different from a later decorative print or reproduction.
At Art of the Movies, we specialise in original cinema posters, lobby cards and movie stills, carefully checked, clearly described and guaranteed original.
