Mann's superb movie follows ten years in the life of the world's most famous boxer, Muhammad Ali. In 1964, little fancied Cassius Clay faced heavyweight champion Sonny Liston, one of the most intimidating fighters of all-time. His victory shocked the boxing world. A decade later, Ali faced George Foreman in The Rumble In The Jungle. Again he was the underdog facing a heavyweight champion, but his rope-a-dope tactics tired Foreman and Ali picked him off, winning by a knockout in the eighth round.

Smith and Voight would earn Oscar nominations for their portrayal of the fighter and the influential sports journalist, Howard Cosell.
