The Films We Are Looking Forward To - January to June 2024
Looking back, 2023 was dominated by three films. While Barbie and The Super Mario Bros. Movie owned the box office, becoming the only films of the year to pass the magical $1B figure, Oppenheimer took the lion's share of the plaudits. With a re-release of Nolan's biographical thriller just ahead of the Oscars, one would be unwise to bet against it dominating the 2024 awards.

Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 and the excellent Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse proved that super-hero movies, when well made, are still big audience pullers and Fast X showed that speeding cars, big set piece stunts and a closely bonded (tries and fails to do the voice) FAMILY are still crowd-pleasers!
Perhaps the biggest surprises of the year were Indiana Jones failing to set the box office alight and The Hunger Games prequel falling short of its predecessors, despite some strong reviews. We predict that both will do well on home streaming over the coming months.

Looking ahead, 2024 is packed with exciting movies. The impact of the strikes that halted film production this year are still working their way through schedules, so with the caveat that some of these dates are bound to change, here are some of the films that we are looking forward to in the first half of 2024!
