It is with sadness that we learned of the passing of multi-talented artist and illustrator, Dan Goozeé. If you are a movie poster fan, you will have come across his work.
Daniel Goozeé was born in 1943 in Astoria, Oregon, where his father ran a couple of movie theaters. He would go on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, before beginning his career as a fine artist and later, a commercial illustrator.
An early Goozeé artwork for the 1977 release of Star Wars was used in a couple of newspaper adverts, but is not very well known, even among collectors.
But, his iconic James Bond work during Roger Moore’s tenure is instantly recognisable and widely collected.

A multi-talented creative, Goozeé was also well known as a Walt Disney ‘Imagineer’, designing some of the incredible worlds that populate Disney’s theme parks, including Splash Mountain and Expedition Everest.
He was also a decorated fine artist, winning awards for both oil painted and water-coloured works.
Daniel Goozeé passed away in April 2024, at the age of 81.
