Have We Joined The Matrix? We Now Accept Payment By Bitcoin!

No, they aren't lines from The Wachowski Brothers seminal 1999 sci-fi classic The Matrix, but they could be.
For many of us, the concept of 'money' that was devised under a pseudonym by person(s) unknown and that is unrecognised by any nation's central bank and government is alien. But, since it's emergence in 2009, Bitcoin has become a more widely held currency and some major companies have begun to accept it as a form of payment, including Microsoft, Virgin Galactic and Overstock. In some countries you can even buy your lunch with it at KFC, Burger King or Subway!
On the flip-side, it is highly volatile. In June 2021, a single Bitcoin cost anywhere between $29,031 and $34,790. A huge variation.
There are also concerns about the power consumed during creation of a Bitcoin and companies such as Tesla are conducting due diligence with a view to 50% of the power being from renewable sources.
But, many are comfortable holding their hard-earned in the form of Bitcoins or other digital currencies such as Dogecoin, Ethereum, Dai and Litecoin. We will continue to plant trees for all orders - and as further offset, will double the number planted for any orders completed in a cryptocurrency.
For the rest of us, our ability to accept payment using more traditional methods, is unaffected! :-)
Talking of The Matrix, a new instalment, The Matrix 4 is in development, co-written by Lana Wachowski and with Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss reprising their roles from the original trilogy. The release date is currently scheduled for 22nd December 2021 - now that is exciting!
