Star Wars Movie Posters

Original theatrical posters from the saga that redefined modern cinema.

From the moment Star Wars arrived in 1977, its poster art became part of the mythology itself. Original cinema posters for the series combined spectacle, character and adventure on a grand scale, helping to establish one of the most recognisable visual identities in film history.

This collection brings together original Star Wars movie posters spanning the different eras of the saga — from the classic imagery of the original trilogy to later posters for the prequels, sequels and anthology films. For collectors, they offer not only nostalgia and visual impact, but a direct connection to the cinematic phenomenon that reshaped popular culture.

The Graphic Legacy of the Star Wars Poster

Few film franchises have generated poster art as instantly recognisable as that of Star Wars. The earliest designs established a visual language of myth, danger and heroism — lightsabers, starfields, masked villains and central figures arranged with the scale and drama of classic adventure painting.

As the series expanded, so too did its poster style. The original trilogy remains closely associated with painted artwork and bold theatrical compositions, while later releases increasingly introduced photographic and digitally constructed campaigns. Even so, the strongest Star Wars posters continued to balance spectacle with iconic character imagery, preserving the sense of event that has always surrounded the franchise.

For collectors, original Star Wars cinema posters hold an appeal beyond fandom alone. They represent the changing design history of one of modern film’s defining series, from late-1970s blockbuster poster art to the visual language of contemporary franchise cinema.

Buying Original Movie Posters

Original Cinema Posters

All posters offered by Art of the Movies are original cinema posters produced for theatrical promotion at the time of a film’s release.

They are not modern reproductions or reprints. These posters were created for display in cinemas and represent a distinctive part of film history — combining graphic design, illustration and photography to capture the atmosphere of the films they promoted.

As authentic promotional material, each poster reflects the printing techniques and visual style of its era.

Condition & Age

Vintage film posters were working pieces of cinema advertising and many have naturally acquired signs of age over time.

Light wear, fold lines, small marks or minor imperfections may be present depending on how the poster was originally distributed and stored. Where relevant, condition details are noted within individual product listings.

For collectors, these characteristics often form part of the poster’s history and authenticity.

Poster Sizes & Formats

Film posters were produced in several standard formats such as British Quads, US One Sheets and Half Sheets.

Each product listing specifies the size in both centimetres and inches and where known, the format of the poster.

Optional Framing

Many posters can be supplied either unframed or professionally framed.

Our optional framing service is designed to complement the artwork while allowing the poster itself to remain the focus. Frames are selected for their clean lines and understated presentation, suitable for both contemporary interiors and traditional cinema rooms.

Framing can be selected when available from the individual product page.

Pre-Framed Pieces

A number of smaller posters, lobby cards, movie stills and special pieces are offered already framed.

These items are prepared in advance and supplied ready to hang, providing a convenient option for collectors who would like a finished presentation without arranging framing separately.

Where a poster is sold pre-framed, this is clearly stated in the product listing.

Careful Packaging & Delivery

Original posters are carefully packed to ensure safe delivery.

Unframed posters are protected using sturdy packaging designed to prevent damage in transit. Framed artworks are securely wrapped and reinforced to safeguard both the frame and glazing.

Every order is prepared with care so that it arrives ready to enjoy.
