"A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…"
A guaranteed original U.S. 'Style D soundtrack' one sheet poster from 1978 for "Star Wars", now known as "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope".
Written and directed by George Lucas and nominated in the "Best Picture" category for an Oscar, the film introduced us to Mark Hamill (as "Luke Skywalker"), Harrison Ford (as "Han Solo"), Carrie Fisher (as "Princess Leia"), Peter Cushing (as "Grand Moff Tarkin"), Alec Guinness (nominated in the "Best Supporting Actor" Oscar category, as Obi-Wan Kenobi) and a host of actors now very familiar faces to all movie fans.
The 'style D' one sheet poster was produced by Drew Struzan and Charles White and issued with the 1978 re-release of Star Wars. In what the "Star Wars Poster Book" describes as one of the most inspired Star Wars posters ever produced, the artists created the look of a distressed and street worn pasted poster.
This version of the poster was used in record stores to promote the movie soundtrack.
The poster has minor fold and border wear and (as per our photos) displays well. It has not yet been linen-backed (see FAQs), but this simple process would easily restore the poster to a really superb collectible condition.
The 'Style D' poster was actually produced before the original release of Star Wars. George Lucas was apparently so impressed with the design, he commissioned it off a black and white sketch. Had it been ready, it may have been the actual launch poster for the film.
We only sell guaranteed original movie posters. We do not sell reproductions.
Note: This poster is priced unframed. Photos showing framed and 'in room' images are for illustration only. Please check our hi-res images and the sizing information shown above.
