A really impressive original U.S. three-sheet movie poster for Byron Haskin's 1964 science-fiction thriller "Robinson Crusoe On Mars", based on the 1719 story by British trader, writer, journalist and spy Daniel Defoe.
Over fifty years before Andy Weir's "The Martian" reached the big screen, Haskin brought Defoe's story of a stranded voyager to the red planet in a movie that was "... scientifically authentic". but that also featured Martian canals, oxygen giving stones and humanoid enslaving aliens!
Haskin was evidently proud of the film's achievements comparing the freedom he had been given as director with his experience of 1953's acclaimed "War of the Worlds".
This amazing poster is a rare one. The three-sheet format originally came from circus advertising and was adopted in the early 1910's during the emergence of the feature film. The large format gives an astonishing centre-piece, in this case of classic 1960's science-fiction cinema art.
This fantastic poster has been professionally linen-backed and restored and as our photos show will look superb on display.
We only sell guaranteed original movie posters. We do not sell reproductions.
