"The name is Bond, James Bond..."
A guaranteed original advance one sheet movie poster from 1979 for "Moonraker", directed by Lewis Gilbert.
The eleventh of the Bond films and the fourth to star Roger Moore as 007, it also starred Lois Chiles (as 'Holly Goodhead'), Michael Londale (as 'Hogo Drax) and Richard Kiel (as the fantastic 'Jaws').
Whilst the end credits of the previous Bond film (1977's "The Spy Who Loved Me") had stated that Bond would return in "For Your Eyes Only", the producers decided to capitalise on the success of "Star Wars" and turned to Ian Fleming's 1955 novel "Moonraker" as the basis for the next Bond film.
Premiering in London on 26th June 1979, the movie would go on to take $210M at the box office, with critics singling out Moore's performance as one of his best renditions of the gentleman spy.
This is a fantastic poster with superb artwork by Bond favourite Daniel Goozee. For the space aficionado, multiple Space Shuttles can even be seen! Unusually for period, it has never been folded and is in super condition.
The 'Blasting Off In June' red text at the foot of the poster is interesting. It looks like it was printed on to these advance posters after the initial image printing. On this poster, it evidently settled a little on the surface and even bled through to the reverse of the poster. (Which as you can see in our photos, is not at all distracting.)
James Bond posters are highly sought after and Roger Moore brought a charm and wit to 007 that has not been matched since. This poster recalls a magical era for Bond.
We only sell guaranteed original movie posters. We do not sell reproductions.
