A guaranteed original '8x10' lobby / front of house card from 1972 for Stanley Kubrick's sci-fi psychodrama "A Clockwork Orange", based on the novel by Anthony Burgess and nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award.
Here in the UK, "A Clockwork Orange" carries a fair amount on infamy. After being indirectly linked to a number of violent copycat crimes, the film was withdrawn in 1973 at the request of Stanley Kubrick. It would not be available in the UK until after Kubrick's death.
This card is quite unusual. It carries "printed in England" text, but from the NSS number we know it was created for the U.S. market. Perhaps this was at Kubrick's request, given he was living in the UK by this time.
It is in superb condition and as we have seen the film recently, we know that the image is from the opening scenes and narration as Alex introduces himself, and his droogs.
Here at Art of the Movies, we aren't too far from Kubrick's old home at Childwickbury and we are big admirers of his work. This card is a small piece of movie history and as such, needs to be framed and on display, where it can be appreciated.
We only sell guaranteed original movie posters. We do not sell reproductions.
Note: This lobby card is priced unframed. Photos showing framed and 'in room' images are for illustration only. Please check our hi-res images and the sizing information shown above.
