A guaranteed original and framed '8 x 10' movie still from 1968 for one of the most influential films ever made, Stanley Kubrick's legendary "2001: A Space Odyssey".

Based on the short story The Sentinel by Arthur C. Clarke, the screenplay was written jointly by Kubrick and Clarke. Although financed by MGM from the U.S., the film was largely made in the U.K. It's ground-breaking visual effects earned Kubrick an Oscar. One of four of the film's nominations. 

This superb movie still would have been used for promotion at the time of the film's 1968 release. It shows one of the movie's most famous scenes with an air stewardess on board the orbital space-plane Orion III. In the zero gravity of space she rotates to enter the cabin by walking up the wall of the ship. In the days before CGI, this effect had to created physically. It is well worth looking up how Kubrick and his team did it!

Movie stills were shot by a Unit Still Photographer during filming and then used for continuity, story boarding and publicity. This particular example has a stamp on the back for MOVIE STILL ARCHIVES in Harrison, Nebraska and was evidently part of their collection at some point.

It also has some promotional text printed on the reverse (see our photos) and while this does bleed through a little to the front, it does not detract from the superb image! (We will include a copy of the reverse for the new owner's records.)

It has been framed by us in a black ayous wood frame with an iced white mount, protective barrier board and crystal clear acrylic glazing. As our photos show, it will look amazing on display!
